Dear Dr. Lerner,

My son, Kevin, arrived at High Road Academy in July of 2000. He was reading and writing well below grade level. Since first grade Kevin has had every kind of test from medical to educational with no definite outcome as to the reason why he was experiencing such difficulty with reading and retaining information.

In the past two years, I have seen many successes that my son has accomplished. His reading and math have improved. He is more self assured, resulting in greater self esteem. Even though we live a great distance from the school, I never have a problem getting him on the bus by 7:20 a.m. He still has a smile on his face at 4:45 p.m. when he returns. Because of the attentive nature of the school’s faculty, I feel that a major break through is in the not too distant future. I know that this intense program would not be available to him at our local public school. I am afraid Kevin and his problems would fall through the cracks. I feel High Road Academy is a life line for my son.
