Letter From Kurt & Mary Wolfe
Ms. Ellen F. Gaske, Ed.D March 14, 2002 High Road Academy 12350 Hall Shop Road Fulton, Maryland 20759 Re: Thomas Wolfe Dear Ms. Gaske:
My wife and I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know how pleased we both are with Thomas’ progress this school year at High Road Academy. As you know his entire career in the public school setting has not been very positive for him, filled with failure and frustration. Since being at your school, in a relatively short period of time, we have noticed a dramatic change in Thomas. His academic achievement has improved, his attitude toward school has improved, his level of frustration has diminished, and he is now more positive and feels good about himself. He no longer has the feeling of hopelessness that he can’t learn. Needless to say this has had a significant impact, not only on Thomas, but also for our family as a whole. High Road Academy is responsible for his dramatic turnaround. Without your program, Thomas’ academic future was bleak.
We are sure that Thomas will continue to excel the remainder of the school year and into next year. He is excited about the prospect of being mainstreamed back into the public high school setting. Without his experience at High Road Academy, the prospect of going back would have created a great deal of anxiety. He is now confident that he can succeed. We thank you for that.
It is difficult to put into words what your school has meant to Thomas and our family. I am sure in the future when Thomas looks back on his time at High Road Academy, he will see it as the time when he was given the tools to learn and succeed.
Please keep up the good work. Children with disabilities need and must have schools and programs like High Road Academy.
Sincerely,
Kurt Wolfe & Marcy Wolfe
